Canada - Where are the Trumpeters for Libraries?

We are bombarded with stories of library cuts and accomplishments in the USA and the UK that any politician would assume that Canadian libraries are standing still.

Where are the trumpeters for Canadian libraries?

Where are the stories of the massive shifts in library programs and services in the large urban centres?

Where are the stories of small libraries in rural Canada that are creatively meeting the needs of their residents.

Where are the stories of cooperation and collaboration?

Where are the stories about working on the streets of Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver?

Where are the stories of the dramatic changes taking place in our universities and colleges?

Where are the stories about OUR librarians?

We are doing fantastic stuff in Canada but we have very few trumpeters!!

Quit talking to yourselves and shout from the roof tops targeting newspapers, radio stations, TV stations politicians and bloggers!!

Start webcasting with the stories of how libraries are meeting the public agenda head on.

Don't wait until the axe falls, don't wait for Federal government trickle down, get out front with the great news.....get out the marching bands and trumpeters!!

Don't tell me you don't have time......I've seen you in the coffee shop.........
